Character's Name: Arthur Kirkland
Character's Country: England
Character's Age: 23
Character's Gender: Male
Character's Occupation: Police officer.
Personality: Arthur is a complicated man. Though he strives to be the perfect “English gentleman,” he often comes off instead as being cynical, pessimistic, and rude because of his inability to convey his true feelings and emotions. The closer he is to a person, the easier it is for him to properly express himself, but even then, he finds it difficult. He’s socially awkward due to being bullied in the past, and though he tries to be polite, he isn’t always successful, and he more easily gains enemies than he does friends.
Despite being a social outcast, Arthur isn’t always quite so unpleasant. There are times when he is in a cheerful mood, and he can keep up a comfortable conversation if he can find someone to talk to. On these good days, Arthur is much more tolerable, but his relatively short temper can often make these good days short-lived.
Arthur also has an alcohol problem, although he’ll deny it if asked. He doesn’t have a high tolerance for alcohol, and therefore gets drunk very easily. While drunk, if he’s not crying in a corner somewhere, then he’s likely to be doing things that would otherwise thoroughly embarrass him. These things vary, from acting more like he did in his teenage days (brash, reckless, arrogant) to strip dancing (although that one only happens if he’s really drunk). Sometimes, he’s the life of the party, while other times, he’s the one who crashes it.
Arthur also appreciates order. Some have gone so far as to call him OCD, as he likes for everything to be neat and organized, and gets upset if anything is out of place, whether by his own doing orAlfred’s someone else’s. He doesn’t like for things to get out of hand, although when they do, he often adds to the chaos, as unintentional as that may be (usually). He wants things to run smoothly, whatever they may be, and although things don’t always go quite the way he wanted, well, he likes to hope.
In general, Arthur is a complicated, socially awkward man who, despite really wanting to do the right thing, often gives the wrong impression.

Fears: (These do not have to be elaborated on, but it would give us more insight on how you play your character.)
~ His elder brothers. They appear to hate him, and they have bullied him quite a lot in the past, sometimes even sending him to the hospital. Because of this, even though he represents the nation that is “in charge” of Britain, he still fears his elder brothers.
~Someone finding his porn collection
~ Being alone. Despite not always getting on well with people, and not being able to make friends easily, Arthur doesn’t really like the thought of truly being alone. He keeps what few friends he has close, or at least, as close as he can, what with his complicated personality.
~ Losing a friend. Whether because of his personality or more tragic reasons, Arthur cares for what few friends he has (though he’s not always good at showing it), and to lose one would undoubtedly end in his sulking for quite some time.
~ Drowning. Due to a bad experience when he was a teenager, Arthur is afraid of large or deep bodies of water, and one of his biggest fears is drowning to death.
History: Arthur was always the odd one out in his family. He was the youngest, and his mother had died soon after giving birth to him. His father was often busy, as he worked for the government, which often left Arthur in the care of his three elder brothers, who never failed to express their dislike for him. Arthur sometimes wondered if it had something to do with the fact that they blamed him for their mother’s death, or maybe it was because he looked so much like her, or maybe even both. But whatever the reason, while his brothers did care enough to keep him alive and fed when their father could not, they made Arthur’s childhood a living hell.
As he grew, Arthur found himself very interested in mythology and magic. For a long while it was all he would read about, and all of his “imaginary friends” were mythical creatures such as faeries, dragons, and even a unicorn. Naturally, this fascination with myths and legends earned him many rude remarks and insults from others, mainly the other children. He was often bullied and teased, called a “freak”, both by other children and his brothers. He could handle the teasing from other children, but what really upset him was when he was subjected to the same type of, if not worse bullying by his brothers. Somehow, it was always worse that his own family, along with the rest of the neighborhood, thought him a freak.
When he got into his teens, however, Arthur got more into pirates and ships and treasure. He read endless books about pirates and sailors, watched movies; anything he could get his hands on. Even his personality changed to suit his new obsession. In his teenage years, he was arrogant, rude, outspoken, and brash, and it was his dream to be captain of a ship one day, despite his not being able to swim. His brothers, especially, did not approve of this phase, as Arthur often tried to get the upper hand on the siblings who had tormented him. They decided to punish him by throwing him into a nearby lake. Despite the fact that this is often a method to rid someone of their fear, it only made Arthur's fear worse. He now has a phobia of deep water, and the idea of going into the ocean or other large bodies of water terrifies him.
The pirate phase, however, started to die down when he was around eighteen years old. It was at this time that he started studying to be a police officer. He wouldn’t say what caused this change, only that he had grown up. It was around this time that he discovered the historical role-play. Fascinated, he, after much thought, decided to join as England to represent his country. It was only then that he really started to make friends, however few these friends may be, and with his father’s governmental status, it made it all the more easy for him to access important information.
Now, he’s just your average, if slightly grumpy English officer, and he’s rather pleased with where he is.
Role-play Sample: Sometimes, Arthur thought it would make his job so much easier if the criminal would just let themselves be caught. It would be so much more convenient than having to run down streets and through alleyways before he finally caught up to them…despite the fact that it was almost always incredibly amusing when the dogs were involved. He couldn’t help but feel just a little bit satisfied when the gits started begging for mercy while the dog latched itself onto their legs.
But alas, it was never that easy, and Arthur returned home sweating and tired, but feeling a sense of justice. The man had been caught, and was now facing as many as five years in prison. A job well done, if he did say so himself.
Once he’d showered and gotten into some more comfortable clothing, Arthur set a pot of water on for tea before sitting down at his computer. As he signed in, he absently wondered if it was sad at all that the few friends he had, he had met through the internet. Well, he supposed there were worse places to meet friends. He should just be glad he had any, at least.
The Universal Hero! says: About time, Iggy! Where’ve you been all day???
Arthur sighed, frowning at his screen before shaking his head. Of course, Alfred would be the first one to send him a message.
Arthur Kirkland says: Don’t call me that, git. Rough day at work, I’ve only just gotten home.
As he waited for Alfred’s response, Arthur opened up his e-mail. He’d only just clicked on the first one when Alfred sent him another message.
The Universal Hero! says: Did you get to kick some bad guy ass?! :D
Arthur scoffed, rolling his eyes as he typed his response.
Arthur Kirkland says: Yes, I did. Be right back, water’s boiling.
As he got up to answer the teapot’s screeching, he mentally prepared himself for a normal night of Alfred’s usual spamming. A smile made its way onto his face, despite himself.
