Character's Name: William Green
Character's Country: New Zealand
Character's Age: 25
Character's Gender: Male
Character's Occupation: Gift Shop Employee at the Museum of NZ (Te Papa).
Personality: Will’s a reasonably friendly and gentle person with a very laid-back attitude to life. He swears and jokes around a lot with family and friends, but is quick to apologise if anyone takes offence. If any of them are in trouble he’ll be there in an instant to help them. He is, however, reluctant to ask anyone for help when he needs it as he views doing so as a sign of weakness. He also speaks Maori fluently, and occasionally Maori words will slip into his sentences when speaking English. Will also dislikes arguments unless there’s a very good reason for it, and tries to defuse tense situations with humour. He’s also quite competitive especially when it comes to sport, and always tries his best.
He does have a temper but most of the time you won't see it unless he's being wound up by his friends or family (usually they do it just to get a reaction out of him, not to genuinely anger or upset Will). He usually manages to keep control of his temper around other people unless they fire him up over something he feels is important to him. If this is during an argument and he doesn't realise he's overstepped the mark it can get him into trouble. He can be quite stubborn too which doesn't always help.
Will is also quite self-confident, and believes in himself and his abilities. He doesn't usually doubt himself, and it's not easy to make him do so. He'll also stand up for himself and what he believes in even if it puts friendships with other people at risk. That said, he is very loyal to the people he cares about, and can still be counted on by them even if he's had a falling-out with them in the past. His family is also very important to him, and he tries hard to maintain the balance between seeing his family and his roleplaying.

~ Not doing his country justice in the RP. He does a lot of research for his threads, but still worries about this.
History: Will was born and raised in Auckland as an only child. His parents would've liked more kids, and Will would've liked more siblings, but life didn't work out that way. His parents encouraged him to make friends instead and play sport so he wouldn't be on his own all the time, and even more so when his Dad ran for office and got elected as their neighbourhood's Member of Parliament. He was only in Parliament for one term, and couldn't get re-elected for a second term.
And it was when he was out with his friends once that his fear of heights began. They were walking across a high bridge over a creek, and Will slipped over while crossing the bridge, and almost slid off of the bridge. His friends pulled him back so he wouldn't fall, but being on things that were high up scared him after that.
When he wasn't out playing sport or playing with his friends, he was reading. His parents had a lot of books in their home and loved reading so they taught him as soon as he was interested. Will loved books about myths and legends, magic, battles, adventures, and history once his Mum explained how much battles and real people going on adventures was part of history.
When he finished high school he decided to go on to university and study history (specifically a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in History), but not in Auckland. It was time for his own adventure, and he applied to study in Wellington at their university. Soon he was studying and flatting with all sorts of people, and visiting his family in the summer. He also got a job working part-time in the National Museum's gift shop to help pay for his living expenses since his student allowance just wasn't cutting it in some ways. Plus, that staff discount helped a lot with getting more history books for his RP research and studying.
It was while he was in the final year of his degree that he discovered the "Hetalia: Axis Powers" roleplay. By then he was specialising in New Zealand History so he applied as New Zealand and was accepted. Juggling the roleplay, school and his job was challenging but he soon graduated from university, and was offered the opportunity to go full-time at the museum. He also moved into his own flat soon afterwards. He could go for a job better suited to his degree, certainly, but he likes being around people and is used to fitting seeing his family, RPing and research around his present job.
Role-play Sample:
"Excuse me," Will heard a customer say from behind him while he was restocking the shelves with more souvenirs. Kiwi and sheep plush toys seemed to sell better than some of the other stuff they had in the shop, and had to be restocked fairly regularly. Not that he could blame the customers since they were very cute, and a sale is a sale.
"Can I help you?" Will turned around to face the customer, and saw she was rather pretty. He put down the sheep plush he was holding and waited for her to explain what she wanted.
"Could you tell me where to find the history books?" She said.
"They're over in the back corner." Will pointed in the direction of the books. "Was there anything specific you're looking for?"
"I was hoping to find books about the Land Wars." She said. "We're currently studying it, and I can't get my hands on any books through the library."
"We have a few good books on the Land Wars." Will said as they walked across the shop to the history section. "Are you a student? When I was at Uni you had to get in fast to get the good books for research."
"You're a graduate?" She said. "Then why are you working here?"
"I work here because I like meeting new people, and I get a good balance between work and life this way." Will said. "Did you want to approach this from a more Euro-centric bias, or a Maori bias, or a balance between the two? A more balanced bias requires more reading, but it would give you a good understanding of both sides of the wars."
"A balance does sound good." She said. "What books would you recommend?"
"These two are good ones to start with." Will took a couple of books off of the shelf. "One you're probably familiar with at least by name if your school offered New Zealand history for Year 13 which is the New Zealand Wars. The other is Wars Without End which gives a Maori perspective to the wars. Your lecturer might be able to recommend more books from both perspectives as well."
"Thank you so much!" She said, and started looking around the shop again. "Which way is the counter?"
"It's right by where I met you." Will said. He glanced at the counter and saw that Emma was on duty today. "If you just go over there to the counter, Emma would be happy to help you."
"Thank you so much!" She said. "By the way, I'm Lisa. What's your name?"
"It's Will." Will said. "It's nice to meet you, Lisa, and good luck with your studies!"
"Thank you, Will, and have a good day!" Lisa said and went over to the counter to pay for the books. Will went back over to the souvenirs, and began stocking the shelves which seemed to have been cleaned out of sheep plush toys again! Who was buying so much of the things?
